Kim Morf, great-granddaughter of Levi General, Chief Deskaheh of the Haudenosaunee, reflects on her Great-grandfather’s mission and the advancement of Indigenous Rights.
In 1923 Levi General, better known as Chief Deskaheh, of Haudenosaunee left Canada in search of support from the League of Nations for aboriginal rights. More than eighty years later, his great-granddaughter, Kim Morf spoke at the 8th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, sharing her Great-grandfather’s vision, and how proud he would be to know that such a forum exist. Ms. Morf echoes Chief Deskaheh’s concern, by encouraging all Indigenous Communities to stand up and speak. |
