On this occasion, we demanded the immediate unconditional release of 1991 Nobel Peace laureate of the Democratic leader, if Burma government loves his country and willing to get the support of world, it must act and respect the international conventions they must have to release this leader. Suu Kyi is the only Nobel laureates who have been in house arrest; it is a shame act of a strong military government to act on such a mere women on the small charge.
UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention consists of experts from Chile, Pakistan Russian Federation, Senegal, and Spain released Opinion No. 46/2008 on 24th March 2009 that "Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi’s placement under house arrest [is] arbitrary, being in contravention of Articles 9, 10, and 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights . . . and even domestic law . . . which itself contradicts to the basic principles and norms of modern international law . . . ".Previously, the Working Group has issued four opinions – 8/1992, 2/2002, 9/2004, and 2/2007 – that her prior terms of house arrest violated international law. We also request the government of India, especially The Hon’ble President Mrs. Pratibha Patil, The UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and the Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Meria Kumar to act and push the Burmese ruler to push the release of their fellow women, who is also the Burmese ambassador to India and Nepal in 1960, Lady Shri Ram College alumni with a degree in politics in New Delhi in 1964 who still in Insein Prison.
